That specificity is the tell. If this were really about not liking to brag, it would show up everywhere, evenly. Instead, it shows up exactly where some part of you has learned, at some point, that being visible costs something. Maybe it costs closeness. Maybe it costs comfort. Maybe it just costs the easy, uncomplicated version of the relationship you'd rather keep than risk.
